As a culture why is Japan so western?

Posted on April 5th, 2011 by admin

For an eastern country Japan is very westernised, why did they take on our culture while alot of the east support the whole westoxification thing and stick so vigorously to tradition.
Well the west also installed its regimes in the middle east but they totally rejected it and hate us now, what made Japan so different? Religion?

Because similarly, they invaded most of their neighbors/other nations ruthlessly, just like most of the western nations did.

Asian countries (except Japan) never did anything so destructive to that scale.

Is China culture very stressful like Japan culture?

Posted on March 18th, 2011 by admin

A lot of people say Japan culture is too competitive and demanding, making the Japanese stressed.

Is China like this too, or do they allow you more personal freedom and not so many demands on your time?

Before People’s Republic of China (PRC) turned to market economy and every business was government owned, Chinese workers were very laid back and there were no incentives in working harder. Now everything has changed but the stress is not the same as for the Japanese.

PRC is ruled by one political party, other than a few very low level local elections, there is no democracy. Democratic advocates are being jailed here, there is no political freedom and a lot of censorship inside China, including banning of Google, Facebook, Youtube. Japan is a democratic country. Then there is corruption all over China, whether one feels stressful as a result depends on which end you’re on. If you’re rich and have all the right connections you would be relaxed, otherwise you would be extremely stressful and frustrated. Japan is a much more open country.

In honor about the Japan earthquake today, what song do you dedicate to them?

Posted on March 11th, 2011 by admin

So I’m just watching the news and the Japan earthquake and flooding seriously looks like a movie or really great visual effects… but its real, everyone.
In honor of Japan of their great culture, what song inspires you when dark times come? Or can you dedicate a song to them? Maybe you even know a Japanese band? This question is all open guys.
But keep Japan in your hearts, cause this is horrible.
Rock on!

Culture of Japan during 1950s?

Posted on March 1st, 2011 by admin

I need to compare Japan during the time of the World War 2 to present day. I have googled so much and only find things about the war. Any idea what the culture was like back then? What they wore, what they ate, what music they listened to. Please any help is appreciated. Thanks.

This is a Wikipedia page explaining Japanese culture after WW2.

I know that this was the time (maybe it was in the 40’s?) when the U.S. occupied Japan, and prostitutes named themselves "Geisha Girls," which made demand of actual Geishas almost nonexistant. So the number of Geishas plummeted.
I believe this was also the time when most of Japan was getting into the western world. So they probably began learning English and wearing western clothes and listening to more western music.
I’m sorry it’s not a lot of info…but I hope it helps.

Yeah, I actually do have an idea but I won’t tell you unless you give me best answer. I promise I will give it to you then. Sorry, but I am very urgent for some points.

Thank you very much for your cooperation in this manner.

What are the laws on rape porn and should it be legalised to the extent of Japan?

Posted on January 18th, 2011 by admin

Of course I only mean to pretend in the videos. Do they have far less restrictions (legally) or is it just their culture? Given that in Japan legalisation of such pornographic material was thought to have seriously reduced not only the rape crime statistics but also the amount of child abuse. I suppose if it is a cultural thing then perhaps it should come to be seen as a more normal thing to do in the Western world if it obviously acts as a needed release. What do you think?

I don’t know of any law about "rape porn" specifically, but the recently passed "extreme porn" law in the UK could have some effect on it. That covers porn containing realistic depictions acts that could result in death or injury to the naught bits (not the actual phrasing). Since rape porn would tend to involve a struggle that definitely come up.

In the US it’s legal (Yay 1st Amendment), and I couldn’t say about the rest of Western world.

I do think it should be legal, not mainly because I think it reduces crime (that’s debatable) but simply because there’s no compelling evidence that it does any harm.

Japan Vs. America on a Sociological Perspective?

Posted on January 1st, 2011 by admin

I have to do an essay on the culture differences of Japan and America to compare contrast for a sociological perspective. It has to be purely sociological and I need 6 sources. It’s due in a week. Any help?

Japan seems more laid back.
