Damaged Japanese Passport (Travel Oversea Possible?)?

Posted on July 31st, 2011 by admin

Here’s the problem.

I have a travel plan to Hong Kong next week. One part of my Japanese passport is damaged.
It is the red leather cover first page part where the top right corner is ripped off. Everything else the passport photo, IC card, passport number are intact.

Is it possible to still travel to Hong Kong… and if possible, is it even possible to return back to Japan ?

Check with the nearest Japanese embassy/consulate.

Some countries (such as France, US) issue their citizens abroad emergency passports within 24 hours that allow them to travel abroad for several months and/or return to their home country.

You may be able to obtain such emergency passport from your consulate.

What kind of jobs can I take when learning Japanese?

Posted on July 29th, 2011 by admin

I got a lot of suggestions like:
1. Japanese Teacher
2. Tour Guide
Etc, etc..

But I’m pretty sure there are more interesting jobs out there.
[It can be living in Japan, or living here where I am.. (Australia)]

Hello… "Tu Duy"? xD

Other jobs I can think of right now are: Being a translator (can be done from Australia or Japan) or applying to the JET program to teach English in Japan (you would still need a very good level of Japanese if you don’t want to feel lost all the time :P )

Why do japanese bands avoid touring in america?

Posted on July 27th, 2011 by admin

See i like j-rock j -pop and all stuff japanese i am not a weeaboo i know i am not or will ever be japanese.
i have noticed for some reason though japanese bands will tour in places like germany, italy, russia
france, south america europe and parts of asia but never america….
we like their stuff too!! not all of us are ignorant!!
is it that they just hate america or americans?
or they think that they will get no appreciation here… if so …
why places like south america or russia…? ( no offense i am half russian.)

They do come here sometimes actually but maybe its harder to find out? Im guessing they might not like how america is for fans. If you dont get what i mean, go watch footage of a japanese concert. Notice how everyone is quiet for the music so you can actually hear it? Americans sing along and scream all the time. Yet i guess other countries do that too so *shrugs*

I know a guy that saw DespairsRay in New York

Is time travel possible already developed by the Japanese?

Posted on July 9th, 2011 by admin

The western powers developed the power of atoms and make weapons. What if the Japanese powers developed the powers of atoms and make time travel? is it true?

First of all, nobody developed the power of the atom. Harnessed maybe, but not develop.

As far as time travel by humans, I don’t think that’s ever possible, or at least, in the sense of visiting the future or past.

Think about it. If time travel were ever possible, we’d be overrun by tourists from the future.

Are there any authors that are like Lisa See but write about Japanese oriented culture?

Posted on July 6th, 2011 by admin

I like Lisa See’s way of writing and love learning of the Chinese culture through her stories? Are they any writers who are like her but of Japanese culture?

I’ve been reading Haruki Murakami’s books. His books have male and female main characters, and they give you a good look at Japanese culture.

Can I mix Chinese and Japanese culture in my story?

Posted on July 5th, 2011 by admin

It’s mostly inspired by ancient Chinese culture, but can some aspects be Japanese, like some of the names?
My story takes place in a fictitious village.

It’s probably not that good of an idea…did you know that Japanese is actually a combination of two languages? The written language is basically copied from the Chinese, but the pronunciations are based on Korean. That’s why people confuse Chinese and Japanese while reading, but Korean and Japanese while speaking (or hearing). That’s also why when people hear Chinese, they think of "Ching Chang Chong" or something (not trying to be racist, or offensive- I’m actually Chinese. Half.) But when they think Japanese, they think like "Yamasuki Sakio" or something. That’s why it’s actually not a good idea to put Japanese names in, but Japanese culture is okay, because it’s pretty close to Chinese.

How many words are in the wonderful Japanese language?

Posted on July 1st, 2011 by admin

Japanese tends to have so many words and so little that I know and understand. I know it’s a big language. Oh by the way, this doesn’t count for the other dialects. I’m only counting real standard Japanese words.
Thomas, that’s not what I meant. I meant the language itself. Those are writing systems. God, get your facts straight before you answer another question like this.

Get ready ….. "over 600,000" it sucks cause I’m learning Japanese too .You don’t have to Know every word to be fluent A lot of Japanese people forget words sometimes and consult a dictionary. I believe to be fluent you only need to know about 10,000 to pass the JLPT with a 1 (the highest level). If you pass with a one you are Native level and You can function in Japanese society.
