A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

????????????

????????!

??????????????????????????

I think she’s asking me if she can send me a New Year’s card or something… however, there’s a small problem in that I’ve not replied yet! Should I reply or is it too late?
I didn’t reply because I wasn’t sure what to say

She’s asking you something. So you need to reply. I think this has nothing to do with her being Japanese.

When your friend asked you something, you have to reply.

I think she asked it before 2011 because she’s asking about New Year card. Why did you not reply until now?

I would apologize to her for not replying on time, give her my address, and tell her that she can send me a card even now.

What are the laws on rape porn and should it be legalised to the extent of Japan?

Posted on January 18th, 2011 by admin

Of course I only mean to pretend in the videos. Do they have far less restrictions (legally) or is it just their culture? Given that in Japan legalisation of such pornographic material was thought to have seriously reduced not only the rape crime statistics but also the amount of child abuse. I suppose if it is a cultural thing then perhaps it should come to be seen as a more normal thing to do in the Western world if it obviously acts as a needed release. What do you think?

I don’t know of any law about "rape porn" specifically, but the recently passed "extreme porn" law in the UK could have some effect on it. That covers porn containing realistic depictions acts that could result in death or injury to the naught bits (not the actual phrasing). Since rape porn would tend to involve a struggle that definitely come up.

In the US it’s legal (Yay 1st Amendment), and I couldn’t say about the rest of Western world.

I do think it should be legal, not mainly because I think it reduces crime (that’s debatable) but simply because there’s no compelling evidence that it does any harm.

Learning Chinese or Japanese for a major in Business?

Posted on January 5th, 2011 by admin

I am debating between Chinese or Japanese as my foreign language in college. I know that Chinese is more beneficial for the future but I also still want to consider the difficulty of learning. As a native English speaker, I hear Chinese mainly focuses on tones but the characters are difficult. I also hear that Japanese conjugations are difficult as well.

Any suggestions?

I had the same choice at University as part of my Business (International Trade) degree. I choose Japanese and haven`t looked back since. Japanese is a great language to learn and has provided me with a world of opportunities to live and work in Japan, which I have done for over 10 years.

How can I download a Japanese language pack?

Posted on January 2nd, 2011 by admin

Whenever I go to Japanese sites all I see are squares or just symbols.
I also want to be able to type in Japanese since I am learning.
Can somebody please write a thoroguh walkthrough of where to download a Japanese language pack and how to make it work? Because I did do so once and it had no effect.
And do I need a seperate language pack for kanji, hirigana and katakana?

Thanks.

Click the "Start" button at the bottom-left of your screen.
Choose the "Control Panel." It will be on the right side of the box above the "Start" button.
Click "Clock, Language, and Region."
Under the "Region and Language" header, choose "Change keyboards or other input methods."
A new box ("Region and Language") will appear. Under the "Keyboards and Languages" tab, click "Change keyboards…" The "Text Services and Input Languages" box will open.

Go to the "Language Bar" tab first.
Choose if you want the language bar on your desktop, in your taskbar, or hidden. If this is a one-time action of typing in a different language, leave it hidden and do it manually. If you are going to do this often, choose one of the first two options. (I personally like the docked in the taskbar option.)
Click "Apply."

Japan Vs. America on a Sociological Perspective?

Posted on January 1st, 2011 by admin

I have to do an essay on the culture differences of Japan and America to compare contrast for a sociological perspective. It has to be purely sociological and I need 6 sources. It’s due in a week. Any help?

Japan seems more laid back.
