Is there any business plan for a Japanese Steak house anywhere online?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

If not, how much is it going to cost to hire a Consultant?

Look for business plans for a large restaurant. If you’re looking for a specific name like Arigato that’s maybe a franchise then look up that under the franchises and find one that’s going out of business and get their budget information from them. I don’t know why you’d think of hiring a "consultant" as it is "you" who needs to know your business inside and out. If a consultant prepares your information for you then you will never know how to budget and within five years your busienss will go under. I suggest you go to sba.gov and follow the five year business plan there and take that three months of preparation time and learn about the business from the ground up.

Phone etiquette in Japanese?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

What is the proper phone etiquette of Japanese? I had my cousin who has lived in Tokyo for 23 years call my hotel and he used a bunch of formal words, etc. I was wondering what those words were.

http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/ek20071120a1.html

here’s an article you might want to read. By the way, the title on that says,"Dial up a good impression with denwa echiketto." The "denwa echiketto" is phone etiquette in Japanese.

hope this helps.

Also, no offense to that other person, but "mushi, mushi" in Japanese would be "bug, bug" and not the way to answer a phone. Sorry!

How come when I had Japanese food for lunch, I immediately vomitted it all out?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

My boyfriend and I occassionally go to this one Japanese restaurant where the food is really good. Today we decided to go. I had my usual lunch which is miso soup, and bento box with beef teriyaki, tempura, gyoza, and steamed rice. Before I was about to finish up my plate, I felt nausea and really wanted to vomit. I ran to the bathroom and blaaaaah you know the rest. I didn’t have anything to eat prior to eating lunch. I’m not pregnant. Do you think it was food poisoning or what? I haven’t vomit since but how should I recover like what should i drink and eat? Thanks for your help.

Either because they had MSG in it or they left it out to long and it was spoiling which would naturally make you sick and vomit (food poisoning).

anyone who bought a japanese PS3, can the language setting be change to english, can it read english games?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

im working here in japan, and i dont understand or read any japanese, im planning to buy japanese PS3 online, but i worry if its just japanese language and menu, same as PS2 console before that has regional requirements.

Yes you can set the language to English, and yes the PS3 runs english games. PS3 games are region free, I believe its the movies that have a region on them but to be honest I’ve never ran a foreign movie on it.

Movie about Japanese men traveling across country selling watermelon?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I’m trying to find out what it is called so I can rent/buy it. I know that two men travel the country and attempt to sell a watermelon(s) along the way? I think it’s Japanese and I think the title is one word long, possibly beginning with a "K". Anyone know what this might be?? Thanks!

Sounds enthralling!

Advice about living in Tokyo and Contemporary Japanese culture?

Posted on February 27th, 2010 by admin

I may be moving to Tokyo in a year or two and I would like to learn more about the city and about contemporary Japanese culture. As a capital city I am sure they have a lot to do, what kind of Opera is available in Tokyo? what about concerts? What sort of holidays and festivals do they celebrate in japan? I know Tokyo is a very crowded city, how does this affect people living there? is it rare to find an empty street or corner of a park?
Any advice or information is appreciated, thank you.

First of all, Japan is not western Opera maniac country. Most of all Japanese don’t pay western Opera at all. They neither understand English nor Italian. Some fake Opera are played by Japanese, which are absolutely nothing but grunge.

Don’t expect any good Opera performance in Tokyo like New York, Paris, Vienna or Rome. Your opportunity to watch them in Tokyo would be rather lower than as if you were in Fresno, CA.

There is traditional Japanese classic Kabuki alike Opera, but it is totally different from genuine western Opera and played by Japanese only. You may take some interpreter ear phone to understand what they say in English though. It is anyway not Contemporary Japanese culture.

Actually western Opera itself is not any contemporary culture, it is?

Talking about concert, there are yes of course, so many concerts from classic music to pop music of overseas and Japanese. J-POP music is still very popular among young generation of Japanese.

I don’t think any western classic music is strongly supported by them. Of course, there are always core maniacs for the particular category of art everywhere. Tokyo is no exception.

Re holidays of Japan, please refer this below.

Festivals are so many to tell here as same as every country has. But one thing you have to be noticed in advance, this country is not Christian country.

Christian religious ceremony is not first priority there. Buddhists or non religious Japanese are many who don’t pay any attention to church. This is one of indifferent peculiarity from westen culture. There is no church in center of any city but those just remain unknown in Tokyo.

Talking about crowdness of Tokyo, just imagine Manhattan. People who are in crowded place will resemble either way. They look indifferent to outsider, feel invisible pressures, conceited too much on surface, however, are also still very honest, generous, intellectual and patient.

You can easily find out empty street, corner of park or vacant seat at free place on weed-day morning to early afternoon. There are many large park, like Yoyogi park, Hibiya park, Ueno park, Imperial palace park etc.

To recongnize modern Japanese culture, Shibuya, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Akihabara are the places you must go. Seeing is believing. Eating is relieving. So enjoy Tokyo.

Business level Japanese certified?

Posted on February 26th, 2010 by admin

I saw a job posting that required business level Japanese. I’m Chinese, so I will learn the Japanese kanji(which is very close to Chinese Hanzi characters) fast. I just want to know if there’s any certification for business Japanese for non-native speakers? If so, I’ll have a goal, and prove I have the language ability to the employer.

If you’re anywhere close to being business-capable in Japanese, you would have put in several years of study by now.

I’m surprised you’ve not heard of the BJT. (Business Japanese Proficiency Test).

How does geography affect traditional culture of Japan ?

The more isolated a culture the more traditional it could be. With modern transportation it will be compromised along the way.
